Jewel arrives home moments to late to save the woman who changed the lives of everyone in her den but she means to take and hold the house in her memory as she vowed to do. Before she declares herself though she will mourn The Terafin for the three days no matter how hard everyone else tries to interfere with the ceremony.
Jewel effects a lot of changes in this book and that's before she declares herself the heir. This is a long book and it only covers about a weeks worth of time causing it to drag a little but the changes she sets in motion are huge so it helps pull the story forward quite a bit.
