picked this book up from the library on a whim since I'm trying to expand my reading horizons. It's an interesting and compelling concept set in a unique and dark world with lots of mysteries and secrets to slowly be revealed. However it was a little bit challenging for me to follow visually as settings & factions weren't very distinct and I think more use of colour symbolism in clothing and architecture would have been helpful to keep track, especially in this first volume.
This is also a very dark fantasy story, and at times it got a bit too gory for me to really enjoy in a visual medium. That being said if a dark and at times gory/horrific fantasy story featuring cruel witch-nuns, mysterious monsters & talking cats sound like it would be up your alley this could be great for you. Just wasn't a hit for me
