Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Don’t let my 4 month read time fool you! I really did love this book. It is a marathon not a sprint but I think it is meant to be read and enjoyed over time. And let’s be honest, there’s only so much I can read about the intricacies of Levin’s farm in one sitting. But of course I love Levin now. The development of the characters is what makes this a masterpiece. And their inner conflicts still feel make them feel like they could exist today because all generations have contemplated what it means to be alive and what it means to be happy and that’s why this has resonated through the years. I will be thinking about this one for a while and definitely want to read this again but not anytime soon. I recommend a version with footnotes.
