Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion by Gregory Boyle
4.0
I'm not a big fan of creative non-fiction, but this book surprised me. Fr. Boyle is an excellent writer, and his story is engaging. The stories of the "homies" he work along side in Los Angeles are not cheerful (he has buried 175 of them, and counting) but they do speak of hope and redemption. Boyle's insights into the teachings of Jesus and what working with the poor can and should be are awe inspiring. It made me think in a whole new way. Recommended.
