Melting into You by Laura Trentham

4.0

See more of my review on my blog, Carlene Inspired.

Laura is doing what she can to get her old family home fixed up to code so she can open a B&B, but the inspector is Alec, the guy she's spent hating since she lost her virginity to him in college. A sexy moment of forgotten hatred brings Alec and Laura together, but is it out of guilt of true feelings? Alec's got a tough demeanor and doesn't trust anyone, Laura's got secrets she's afraid to let out, but they both keep coming back to each other. As they team up to take care of one of the local youth and fix up her home, they find themselves looking at each other without the hatred they once had.

Laura is hilarious and tough. She takes no crap, has the hugest heart, and puts Alec in his place. Whenever she's running from situations, especially her insecurities, tough guy Alec shows up to turn it all upside down. While they both weren't totally happy to return home, finding each other again after the college mishap was the perfect story of romance and strong chemistry. I really enjoyed the push pull of their relationship and how they find each other as they're helping someone else. The banter is witty, the serious moments done just right, and the relationship is a slow burn, just the way I like them. The high school football scenes are done very well and I felt like Hunter, the boy their watching out for, is a main character in his own right. It's also nice to see the characters from the previous Falcon Football books and where they are at in life.

Melting into You is the third book in the Falcon Football series, but it can be read as a standalone. Laura Trentham does a wonderful job of introducing the small town of Falcon, Alabama and filling it with the characters you love to find in romance books. While I think this may be the last book in the series, I certainly wouldn't be against reading more books about the residents of Falcon, Alabama.

Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press Romance for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
