Our Bloody Pearl by D.N. Bryn
5.0
I received a free digital copy of this story in exchange for an honest review and, while I haven’t yet purchased a physical copy of it, I’m definitely going to when I can!
Our Bloody Pearl by D.N. Bryn very quickly made its way onto my list of favorites with its exciting adventure, diverse cast of characters, and compelling and emotional plot.
As a huge sci-fi and supernatural reader, I’m used to stories focusing more on adventure and conflict or just relationships, but Bryn combined both and created a compelling plot while still giving her readers relationships and characters to relate to. The characters themselves absolutely won my heart from the very beginning, but Dejean won himself an extra special place in my heart upon the reveal that he’s asexual and panromantic (as I’m an asexual reader).
The adventure and plot of this story were both perfectly paced and well executed for me. Bryn gave her readers time to understand, prepare, and enjoy the story as it progressed and that’s not something many authors I’ve read provide. The story hooked me at the very beginning and continued to keep my attention throughout the entire story. Writing the story from Perle’s POV as well made the story even more compelling for me as a reader.
All in all, this was an amazing book that I highly recommend reading!
