We dive deeper into the root work side of things. I also like that the world is expanded in many ways in this one. Not much actually happens and in that way it falls into middle book syndrome. Though I don't know if this will be a trilogy or more. There's a lot of conversations with both the living and the dead. Several new characters but they are easier to keep track of then all the scions and squires from the last book. One reminds me strongly of Jasper, lol. I absolutely love the historical and mythological elements. The "love triangle" is actually a triangle?! There's more to identify with for me personally in this one. Anyway, in most ways this feels like a stronger book. Looking forward to the next one.
