Among the Beasts & Briars by Ashley Poston

2.75

Pretty standard YA fare

A guilty past to create conflict

It was very predictable that the fox was going to become a human. There were even more predictable bits about the fox as well

The nickname was weird. Just name your character Daisy if that’s what you want to call them.

I get she’s a scared teenager but… she’s so stupid sometimes. People are chasing you? But they call your name? Maybe it’s my friend! Maybe she’s okay! No… just no.

It had a decent pace until they got to the hidden city they were searching for. Then I found it lost it’s rhythm and I started to lose interest

The plan they make once in the city is so idiotic, it took me right out of the story.

Every “reveal” was aggressively predictable

It directly mentions the title twice in a paragraph and a half.

The ending was so very blah. So lacklustre
