this was outstanding.

this was beautifully written and i liked how the perspective of each chapter alternated between ariadne and phaedra. it gave two different flavours to the same themes/events.

the theme of women living in a 'man's world' is constantly written about, and i think the author did it perfectly in this book. really goes to show how men always have been, and will continue to be, pieces of shit. both in myths and reality. the later chapters really emphasised this and resonated with recent events, which almost brought me to tears.

it's so interesting to evaluate how the character of pasiphae is portrayed in Ariadne compared to Circe. here she is the victim of the gods, of men and their disgusting tricks. she is a kind mother, then becoming fragile and empty as time goes on. in contrast, she is portrayed as scheming and vile in Circe, an ambitious women who's flaming anger burns bright. though maybe this is down to the different narrators; pasiphae's daughters and her sister. i know for a fact that i see my sisters as demons lol.

theseus can eat a huge turd.

really want to read this again sometime!!!
