The Phantom of Manhattan by Frederick Forsyth
2.0
Better than Love Never Dies, the musical that was based on it, by far. Unfortunately that still isn’t saying a lot.
There were moments I really liked, and I appreciated the treatment of Raoul’s character so much as well as the nature of Erik and Christine’s relationship.
Still, there are just a lot of problems with the basic plot and premise. It’s too unhinged.
I also didn’t appreciate the fact that there wasn’t a single chapter dedicated to Christine’s POV. Not one. And the choice made at the ending was kind of bad in my humble opinion.
Anyway. Stan Raoul de Chagny. Peace out.
