The Summer You Found Me by Elizabeth O'Roark

4.0

Wow... what a crazy journey this book was. It's amazing how each couple's story in this series breaks my heart completely, but then I reach that greatly awaited point where their journey heals everything in me, brings me peace and internal happiness. Kate and Beck's story is part of this category, too.

I cannot even begin to find the right words to describe what I felt when I was reading through Kate's life. All I know is that with each page read, whenever Kate shared her emotions I was breaking inside. I cannot wish on my worst enemy what this woman went through, and how hard she's been fighting to cope and just exist on a daily basis.
I knew her story was going to break my heart, but somehow I didn't anticipate that it would do so in an excruciating pain rather than fast and almost painless. This just proves that Elizabeth O'Roark deserves the highest praise for being able to put together a story so damn well-written, a story that I'm sure will leave its mark for many days-weeks-to come.

Beck is amazing. He's a fantastic friend and he's an absolutely incredible person you wish you had in your life to rely on.
He's grumpy on the outside, and he's the kindest, gentle, sexy and loving on the inside. He's the man of our dreams, that's for sure. 🩵

The connection between Kate and Beck is palpable from the very start, which makes total sense once we learn more of their story. I absolutely adored all their moments together: the bickering, Kate's smart and fun mouth, their vibe, their sweet moments, their deep and vulnerable moments.
I loved the way Kate was able to open up with Beck in a way she hadn't been able to with anyone. He truly understood her, he never judged her, and he was the only one remaining by her side, regardless of circumstances. And Kate knew that he was her safe haven.

I wish Kate realised what she had in front of her sooner and didn't spend so much time and energy focused on getting Caleb back. I wish Kate realised sooner that her true soulmate was standing beside her since the very beginning. It pained me seeing Beck hurt, as much as it pained me seeing Kate in pain.
But at the same time, the more I learned of Kate's journey, the more I understood where she was coming from, and the more my heart broke for her, and then the more her POV made sense to me.
Kate is an extremely strong woman in my eyes and a true fighter.
Same as Beck. Their inner battles may be different, but they fight to get through everything all the same.

This story has a HEA-which I absolutely adored. It made me smile and swoon and I was so happy! For everyone, but especially Kate and Beck.

But the journey to get there was soulwrenching and an extremely emotional one. I cannot thank Elizabeth enough for giving us their story and delivering it in such precious, real, raw and emotional way—like only Elizabeth can do.

Thank you so much Valentine PR and Elizabeth O'Roark for the ARC of this book! 💖
