Mera: Tidebreaker by Danielle Paige

2.0

Mera as a teenager has set out on a life-changing mission, with the driving force being closer to comic canon. I appreciated the inclusive characters surrounding Mera and how much her mother had a role in her ambitions. Something that I thought was pretty clever was a warning about being a "fish out of water" when arriving to the surface because it impacted the pace of the plot. What I liked the most was that Byrne drew Arthur as young Jason Momoa, a nod to the DCEU. I wish there had been more color in the novel instead of the teal color scheme with a splash of red for Mera's hair. Altogether, the story felt rushed and conveniently tied up since some plot points weren't fleshed out. However, it concluded on a promise that this was not the end for Mera and Arthur but in fact, the beginning.
