Deceiving the Corsair by Ruby Dixon

2.0

I think this is the first Ruby Dixon I just wasn’t a fan of. It felt really unfulfilling. I was expecting much more on Zoey’s struggle with looking human and hating that part of herself, as well as Sentorr learning to get over his dislike of humans in order to reassure her and care for her. I was also expecting more of Sentorr’s backstory, especially since the book started with it.

What we got was about 10 pages of “oh no I’m human what if he hates me” and then 100 pages of “oh no we can never be together because I have to help my brothers even though we can very obviously be together and this entire situation is painstakingly contrived.”

Yeah, I guess after the last 3 I was expecting another more serious and heavier book that really dealt with Zoey’s hatred of her own humanity. We got that for like maybe 10 pages total. I was unfortunately unimpressed with this one.
