SP4RX by Wren McDonald

Another winner from Nobrow Press. This beautifully illustrated graphic novel takes place in the future, where Structus Industries have made life much easier for the working class by selling robotic replacement parts so that those in the ‘lower levels’ can compete with the robotic workforce already taking over their jobs. But, since when should we ever trust corporations to have public good at heart?

Never. Not only is their product dehumanizing and undervaluing the real strength of the people, but replacing arms and legs so that blue collar workers can still be overworked and underpaid isn’t really structus’ full intention. That comes with the next wave, brain implants. Soon everyone with the enhancements can be used by the structus corporation to further their evil schemes.

A bitnite (hacker for hire) named SP4RX may be the only one standing between freedom of thought and mind control by an evil corporation.

I enjoyed this, an interesting premise and story. I liked the message of not trusting billionaires and corporations...ever. But, why is it that my favorite character always dies!?
