The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane by Julia Nobel

3.0

Emmy is an 11 year old girl with a very busy mother, and a father who disappeared when she was three. Her mother is constantly switching Emmy from school to school to find the 'best' education for her, and Emmy ends up at an English boarding school. Emmy ends up involved in mysterious circumstances that revolve a lot around her missing father, and a secret society.

All in all, I'd say this book was 'fine'. It was neither terrible or particularly memorable. Everything just felt pretty watered down to me. "Close but no cigar". I saw quite a few people claim it was similar to a famous serious involving a magical school and three friends, however, I really saw very few similarities OUTSIDE of the fact it was an English boarding school and it had three friends as protagonists.

I am not sure if I will read the sequel. I might, if I need a super fast and easy palette cleanser, but it won't be a high priority.
