We Were Once a Family: A Story of Love, Death, and Child Removal in America by Roxanna Asgarian

dark emotional informative sad tense medium-paced

5.0

TRIGGER WARNINGS: family separation, adoption, child trafficking. I have asked specifically that Story graph add family separation and adoption as a TW, but haven’t gotten any updates.

This book is a MUST READ for those considering adoption or fostering. I think all social workers should read this book as well. So many people view adoption as a happy thing , but don’t understand the trauma or systemic racism beneath it (this also includes private adoptions)
