The Fake Out by Stephanie Archer

5.0

i was blessed with an ARC of this book and it was truly wonderful and emotionally impactful. I was so excited to meet rory and hazel and was not disappointed at all. the themes about body image and self worth were beautifully done and i feel seen.

i LOVE fake dating and miss stephanie made this extra good 🤭 rory miller is a SUCKER for hazel. EEEEK, WHEN PIPPA KEPT SAYING ‘interesting 🤔’ WHEN HAZEL DENINED SHE HAD FEELINGS FOR RORY AHAHA. the fire breathing dragon was so funny and cute.

RORY. YOU MADE ME CRY. seeing his journey and process with learning to love hockey again and finding his worth was so emotional. the fact that his dad got a second chance was such a refreshing change that i loved too see 🥹

AND HAZEL. MY BEAUTIFUL GIRL. I LOVE HER SO MUCH. she so caring, sweet and welcoming to everyone and im so happy that rory gives her everything she deserves. i want to give her the fiercest hug 😭

AS FOR THEIR RELATIONSHIP. IT WAS THE GIFT THAT KEPT GIVING. THE FACETIMES, THE PHOTOS THEY SENT, THE PRESENTS HE SENT TO HER 🤭😮‍💨 AH THEIR BANTER. THE PROTECTIVENESS 😩  but also the softer moments, when they laughed carelessly and smiled freely ❤️‍🩹 their journey of self worth and parental healing was beautiful to witness.

i laughed and giggled so much. HEHE THE WAY HED GET TURNED ON WHEN SHE TOLD HIM OFF SJJDJDJR OH I LOVE THEM.

i knew it would be incredible because stephanie wrote it, but this is everything 😭 i think I’m going to reread this asap 🫠

it’s got: fake dating. ex’s rival, pro hockey, golden retriever hero, boy obsessed AND forced proximity 🙏
