I genuinely don’t understand people who gave this book 5 stars. It was just bad. And quite problematic. Jesse Ward has so many red flags that they’re no longer flags, they’re flashing lights. Ava, on the other hand, is just plain unlikable. Both characters need to seek psychological help. (Also, side note: Kate is a horrible friend in my opinion because she repeatedly convinces Ava to go back to an abusive relationship, aiding Jesse on multiple occasions.)
The ending was very fitting in my opinion. It seemed inevitable that their relationship would go up in flames. The fact that Jesse is an alcoholic with violent tendencies and issues surrounding control just added to it.
I have no desire to read anything more about these characters, and if I recommend this book to anyone it will be done with the intent to inflict pain and suffering.
