5.0

Far out this was a slow burn but I absolutely loved it!

šŸ“š anxiety representation
šŸ“š workplace romance (Drā€™s)
šŸ“š romantic letters
šŸ“š fake relationship
šŸ“š adorable dog
šŸ“šone bed trope
šŸ“š dual POV

I just fell in love with this book and Dr Maddox. I didnā€™t think it would be possible to love this as much as the first book in this series (Part Of Your World), but I happily stand corrected.

|Synopsis|
Dr Jacob has moved to a new hospital to avoid his ex, who is now engaged to his wife. Off to a bad start he begins a friendship with Brianna. And to appease his family, pretends to be in a fake relationship with her in order to y his family.Ā
ā€œThe women I loved had moved on. She was marrying someone else. And the someone else was my brother.ā€

ā€œI guess I just had to decide what scared me the most. Showing up to this wedding alone, or making Briana Ortiz an indigent proposalā€

|Thoughts|
Had me hooked from the beginning and it just got better from there. Brianna and Jacob are just a sweet together. I was hivhlighting ever other page with sweet moments that just make me think ā€œawwwā€.Ā

Did not want this book to end.Ā

Love the letters that they wrote to each other. Love letters done right!

ā€œFirst of all, if you think for one second that I can be flipped with cupcakes and handwritten apology letters, then you are absolutely correctā€

Also, liked how Jacobā€™s social anxiety was addressed and I can definitely relate to some of his struggles/ preferences

ā€œI will however accept your invitation to be invited and never come. That sounds like an excellent timeā€

New ruleā€¦all romance books should have a dog!
ā€œLieutenant Adam was a three-legged two year old Bernese mountain dogā€

This romance will just make you feel giddy. Heā€™s such a cinnamon roll.Ā

ā€œJacob wasnā€™t like that. He was a hero, but he was the kind that never let anyone knowā€

The magic of Wakan and all leading to the one bed trope which was perfect.Ā

ā€œOf course. Weā€™re sharing a tiny bed, and thereā€™s going to be a romantic fire. Perfect.ā€

Do really wish the miscommunication trope would die. There is some legitimate reasoning behind it in this instance, but stillā€¦I could do without it.Ā

Still a 5āļø read for me.Ā

ā€œAnd that was the moment. The first time my brain consciously reviewed what my heart had been telling me for the last few weeks. I wasnā€™t falling in love with her. I always wasā€

ā€œAnd while she was cradled in my arms, she muttered something about teleportingā€
Super sweet throw back to earlier in the book

And the ending (his journal). Just everything this booked touched on was just too sweet.Ā
