Death in Yellowstone: Accidents and Foolhardiness in the First National Park by Lee H. Whittlesey

This is the last of the "Death in" national parks for me and, reading the introduction, I discovered it's the first published. Of the collection (Death in Big Bend, Death in Yosemite, Death in the Grand Canyon), this is definitely the weakest, but, still, my morbid little mind was able to power through it fairly fast. Flipping through the reviews, I see even the 5 star reviewers agree that the author is not a good storyteller, but even a poorly linked together compilation of random and often gruesome deaths will retain interest! I will say that after reading the other three compilations, I went to visit the parks quite happily, comfortable in my knowledge to prevent death, but dang, this one has me a bit more fearful. That bear section! 😱
