Freedom National: The Destruction of Slavery in the United States, 1861-1865 by James Oakes

Holy shit, I did it.

My uncle have me a book and I actually read the thing.

This was fantastic and well researched if a bit repetitive at times (especially the first 100 pages). The biggest shock was how much more Congress did than Lincoln.

And the history of the Border States! I would have been much more interested in the Civil War if I knew Missouri was having it's own mini civil war at the same time.
