The Burning Room by Michael Connelly

4.0

I am not exactly a fan of the mystery novel or crime thriller, but I thought I would expand my horizons a little bit and randomly chose this novel. I didn't realize that this is a part of a long series based on the main character, but that didn't really matter as it was pretty much self contained and he started out the novel with a new partner, so I didn't need to know anything about their dynamics. I do get the feeling that some of the other characters that he interacts with at the police station have backstories in the other novels in this series, but it didn't detract from the story.

So I found the plot interesting, the mystery interesting, most of the characters were at least mildly interesting, and it wrapped up pretty good. All in all an enjoyable book in this genre, even for someone who doesn't frequent this genre.
