Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media by Edward S. Herman, Noam Chomsky

5.0

The narratological framework designed by both Herman and Chomsky is second to none. The basis for all purported claims is supplemented with a receipt every single time. I wanted to highlight half of the book. I found myself on two occasions (due to chapter two and four of the book respectively) on the fringe of hysteria because of the propaganda model that is imposed on its targets. Mostly hysterical because I have seen its effects on the people around me, people I love and cannot blame for their insolent retorts to a rejection of nationalism in the US.
I read this book in a weeks time and it has changed my life for as long as I live, and I hope it resonates with its readers as it has done for me.
