The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake

5.0

I have to admit I'm a sucker for the 'found family' trope where strangers are forced to co-exist and work together towards a common goal. Add to that a dark academia vibe with morally grey characters who each have their own psychological complexities and hidden agendas, a few witty remarks, and a very aesthetically pleasing book cover - sold!

The book is definitely not for everyone. The author likes using complex words to describe simple concepts, which could either sound poetic or unecessarily complicated, bordering on pretentious depending if it's your cup of tea or not. There isn't much action happening plot-wise, the writing focusing instead on relationship development between characters; hence, enjoying this book is mostly a matter of character appreciation.
