Such a delightful sequel to Sheets! Thematically, this story has grown with its characters and focuses on the complicated middle school dynamics that lead to bullying, social isolation, and the importance of teaching our children to ask for help when there doesn’t seem like a way out.
I think there was some room for handling the suicidal ideation with further care.  The other students talking about it felt like an opportunity for rumor spreading in a 8th grade setting, and I have some issue with the main bully only recognizing her harm once suicide was threatened. It should not have to get that bad for you to recognize how you are hurting someone else. Otherwise, I appreciated the inclusion of how complacency and being a bystander is still bullying.
Overall, I so enjoyed this sequel and am still in love with Thummler’s whimsical and lush illustration style.
