Moshi moshi by Banana Yoshimoto

although this feels to me better fleshed than kitchen, already being aware of yoshimoto's vibes made it less surprising. i love this. i hate the romance elements but in a way that one hates not so bad things that make no sense. i hate the way yoshimoto writes gender as such a distinct thing in the way that one hates disappointing things that make no sense. i love how throughout the book, yocchan seems to be trying to understand her father even thought she could never because that totally makes sense. with 16 tabs and some quotes that prompted pretty self-investigative journal entries, i can't but recommend this to anyone and everyone.
