Growling For My Mate by Shaw Hart

2.0

I keep going back and forth on this short story. It was cute and short and sweet, but it was missing quite a lot.

It starts a day before Grier turns 18...and Slate is 23. I know shifters and mating and all that nonsense are used for a bit, but this one didn't do it for me. Slate is fond of Grier, but upon midnight of her turning 18, a flip switches and he suddenly knows she's his mate. I get that it was to dance around legalities and all that, but I've read that a few times and this particular take on it isn't my favorite.

Another thing is that it's very unbelievable? I know, I know, it's shifters and fantasy and mating, but Grier is supposed to be human, she climbs up a tree to escape Slate, she falls asleep in said tree, then spends the ENTIRE next day in the tree. Just sitting there, eating granola bars.
I'm sorry. And entire night and day sitting on the same branch? And she's not in any pain? She's not hurting? She could sleep and not fall out of it but also be well rested even though she's IN A TREE??

She has no water up there, only a granola bar, and she spends an entire night and day in there and only comes down because the 'mating moon' has made her incredibly horny.

I would have enjoyed this book (at least found it cute) if they just didn't have any details.
