Mistletoe Journey by Fenna Edgewood
5.0
Caroline Gardner is a widow, her children are all grown up and married and she yearns to find a new purpose in life. When she’s offered the opportunity to care for a child, she jumps into action and goes to fetch her. And the fact that her travel companion is an handsome sea captain is certainly a bonus she’s bent on enjoying…
Captain John Merriweather spent all his life at sea. He’s quite content with his lot, but maybe not really happy… Could he wish for a family, a woman at her side? When he embarks on a journey with a delectable widow, he’s bound to find out…
This is an amazing novella with two endearing characters. I especially loved John, so shy and passionate at the same time. And of course I ADORED Caroline, an independent woman who knows what she wants and is not scared to take it. I loved the fact that they were older than the usual characters of an historical novel, because we older “girls” (!) need more characters we can relate too!
I haven’t read the Gardner series yet, but the novella is a good standalone as well. And of course it made me wish to read the previous books!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
