The Diamond Age: or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer by Neal Stephenson

5.0

An excellent coming of age story set in a richly imagined nanotechnological future. This book felt so epic to me, charting Nell's growth from a very child to a mature young adult, and the stories of others woven around her as they impacted her development. The technologies were so great and well realized, although I felt some of the characters' motivations remained obscured in an unsatisfying manner. It's not unusual that I want to keep reading a story beyond where the author chose to conclude it, as was the case with this novel, but I think I appreciate the place Stephenson chose to leave off anyway.
