Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll

1.0

Yikes. The Luckiest Girl Alive should come with a giant Trigger Warning on the cover for anyone who has ever had a single negative thought about their body. You would be hard pressed to find ONE PAGE of this book that does not contain an incredibly toxic description of food, body size, or otherwise disordered thinking. I’m talking not one of the many female characters in the book is immune, and it is honestly incredibly distressing to read. Add that to the uninteresting plot, unlikeable main character, and rather shallow handling of several pretty harrowing topics, and it makes for a book that I would gladly have never read.

The way things turn out for the main character at the very end does contain a small glimmer of redemption...but I was too busy feeling guilty about the lunch I’d just eaten to notice.
