This is a well-written, spicy, somewhat dark, monster romance. I was already a little familiar with the characters Ramanu and Lenora since I read Katee Robert's other books in the A Deal with a Demon series, The Dragon's Bride and The Kraken's Sacrifice, and so, it was nice to see how they met and fell in love.
This is a novella, so things happen quickly, and I can't help but wish it was a slightly longer book to develop the plot and relationship a little more. It feels very insta-love, which is not my favorite trope. The characters know each other for basically a day.
Ramanu is a gender fluid half bargainer demon, half gargoyle. Lenora is a witch who is not afraid of dark magic. She needs help retrieving a stolen family heirloom from an ex lover that has betrayed her.
The spicy scenes are hot and full of consent with some pegging included.
