Lydia Davis authored the best version of this book in my opinion, if I could read French I feel that even reading the original text wouldn't be as enjoyable - translators alter a text to accommodate differences in language structure, culture, humour to name a few. It commands your whole attention and rewards you with each page turned.


Just read it.
