This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen

How can I explain the effect this novel had on me?

Sarah Dessen is, and always will be, a poignant, lyrical writer that touches the heart of matters that teens struggling with, without being condescending.

This novel focuses on Remy, a girl abandoned by her father at a young age, who later dies after one last cop out, a song dedicated to letting her down. Her mother frequently remarries, creating a distrust of all men.

After her mothers most recent marriage, she finds herself drawn to a boy who does not fit in with any of her preconceived notions of the perfect boyfriend. This is the closest Remy has been to love, and as she grapples with letting go of her vulnerability, the world around her rapidly shifts.
