We pick up right where we left off from A Shadow in the Ember. I feel like I've enjoyed Sera & Nyktos more than Poppy & Cas. And it's totally unfair to make comparisons considering they're two different series. It might be because of the way we were introduced to Sera and Nyktos
and how Sera was the one betraying and not the betrayed. But I do want to justify that Sera would've gone through with her betrayal unlike Cas, who acted like a total toddler throwing a tantrum and then marrying Poppy, almost forgetting the whole betrayal.
I can't help comparing the two series since they're intertwined. But I feel like they're the same story with different characters, Sera and Nyktos are just the more likable ones. Sera is strong, independent and hardheaded. She doesn't put up with anyone or anything she doesn't want to. They're good qualities as much as they're not the greatest since she's constantly getting herself into dangerous situations. As for Nyktos, I feel like I just like him because he's mysterious and kind. I do want to say that I'd like to see more of Nektas, he seems like he played a father-like role in the life of Nyktos and that's something I'd like to see more of.The plot made me angry at times but I feel like it actually took us somewhere rather than the B&A series does.
