Designer Relationships: A Guide to Happy Monogamy, Positive Polyamory, and Optimistic Open Relationships by Mark A. Michaels, Patricia Johnson

3.0

although i don't like the term "designer relationship", i strongly agree with the book's premise that every relationship is unique and we should consciously build each connection instead of going off cultural and personal assumptions. i came to this as someone in a long term polyamorous relationship, looking for even more strategies to make sure everyone's needs are met (like "Polysecure"), but seemingly this book is mostly for people who are newly curious about open relationships. more than half of it is dedicated to showing that non-monogamy isn't evil. and the advice just enumerated ways in which you can go "on a sex adventure". so i personally didn't get anything out of the book, but others might find it more useful
