Disclaimer: I know it’s popular and has rave reviews…
Despite all its gothicness (and does it ever do that well at least), this book didn’t work for me at all, but especially the second half which seems like a different book altogether because it went weird, hard and fast.
Also, if things are bleak and threatening and it looks like it’s not going well for your main character? For the love of god don’t stop and tell me about her long sleeves and Peter pan collar. Not now.
