Bait: Off-Color Stories for You to Color by Chuck Palahniuk

3.0

The first thing I need to say about Bait: Off-Color Stories for You to Color, is that it's sold as a coloring book, a feature that I haven't the tiniest bit of interest in. I have no problem with the adult coloring book fad, but it's just not for me. However what I am interested in, is a new collection of short stories by Chuck Palahniuk, so I bought this on day one.

As a coloring book I can't really evaluate it. I will say that it's sort of odd, in that it's a hardcover book, and I would think it would be awkward to hold while coloring. But since I have no experience in this area, I'll leave that to others to evaluate. The illustrations vary, but they're generally pretty good.

As a short story collection, it's no [b:Make Something Up: Stories You Can't Unread|22822857|Make Something Up Stories You Can't Unread|Chuck Palahniuk|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1417407855s/22822857.jpg|27378456]. The eight stories here are good, but they're B or C level Palahniuk, hardly his best. One of these stories I know was rejected from his previous collection (he mentioned it in a live reading I attended). But they're fine, and if you're a fan of Palahniuk's work, this book is probably worth reading. Possibly even coloring. If you've ever wanted to color in multiple illustrations of Reese Witherspoon's feces, well then here you go, your opportunity has arrived.
