Alex Cross is at it again...tis time as an FBI agent-in-training.  He left MPD (DC Police) as a homicide detective to join the FBI and become an agent.  And is immediately thrust into horrific kidnap/murder case with a diabolically brutal serial killer.  But, of course, nothing is as simple as it may seem and under the surface there seems to be more craziness than anyone can imagine.  Alex is tasked with discovering who the culprit may be and stopping him/her before anyone else is killed.  Each clue leads to more uncertainty and we are taken on a roller coaster ride of harrowing action and horrible deviance.  Not to mention, his former fiancee returns to Washington, DC and wants to be a part of their son's life in a more permanent way. I really did enjoy the fast pace of this book as well and the twists and turns that arise all throughout. I love Alex Cross and his friends and family and the dynamic they share with one another.  I give this book 4.8 stars which I will round up to 5 stars.
