The Final Descent by Rick Yancey

2.75

The first book in this series brought me out of a reading slump. This book almost dragged me back into one. It's probably my own fault for expecting something different, but I felt this book too disconnected from the rest of the series.
We could see Will spiraling out of sanity through the first books, but there was a huge leap between the last one and this one. Too many things changed at once: the ages, that dynamics, the characters, the writing style, etc.
I would have preferred for this series to have at least one more story about the characters adventures, maybe bringing one of the aforementioned changes into play, so the change feels less sudden. A shame that this is the ending of a series that promised so much, in my opinion.
