Grapefruit: A Book of Instructions and Drawings by Yoko Ono by Yoko Ono
4.75
this is so great. so silly so humble so colorful and enjoyable to read and think about. so many pieces in my mind!!! i feel weird calling ono a genius bc it’s something entirely different that she is.
her manifestos on anti-war performance art were honestly magnificent.
there’s probably an interesting ethical convo to be had around what performance art really does during vietnam esp this kind of performance art. i’m not super interested in having it because the playfulness of this book and it’s mind are in a league of their own. some other form of knowledge making.
there were a couple of pages that seemed like they didn’t need to be there, and the ordering of chapters didn’t make much sense to me? so i only docked this for organization.
