Read this if you like…
- ya dystopian
- young love
- a virus killed off all the female population
- can suspend your disbelief
Themes at play…
- clan mentality
- loss of humanity
- survival
The narration is where this book shined…while the writing could use some work, the narration was top-notch. When the story got bogged down with believability issues, the narration kept me listening. The romance between the main characters could’ve been more plausible with more scenes between them, and maybe more inner dialogue would’ve actually sold me on it. With all that being said, I will most likely listen to the next book to see what direction she’s going to take this and maybe her writing will improve. Also…this was a ballsy premise you have to think outside the box to pull something like this off…and if you’re the last girl on the planet…I feel like there should be a lot more men trying to steal you away…and have their way with you, but hey, this is YA.
- The narration by Emily Lawrence, Andrew Eiden, and Michael Crouch (only had small part) was superbly cast.
- ratings score = 6.90/10
