The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal, and Trial by Combat in Medieval France by Eric Jager

5.0

Although off to a slow start, this is a riveting piece of historical non-fiction. Fascinating to the smallest detail, and ending with "God's Justice", I highly recommend to those interested in the genre. Eric Jager brings carefully researched material to life with this account of the last judicial duel in France.

I had Eric Jager as my medieval studies professor in college, and I heard there was going to be a movie based off his book so I decided to give it a read. Would recommend!
