I really enjoyed this! After an age sitting on my bookshelf, awaiting my view, I finally started “A Certain Hunger”. This novel presented a fascinating take on femininity, expectations of a woman, love, the nature of American society, and more. The prose was beautifully written, though a tad monotonous at times. The seamlessness with which Summers glides from commentary on food and societal behavior to gruesome, bloody brutality was commendable. My only note would be the monotonous prose and slower pace throughout.
