The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware

4.0

In this dark, gothic thriller, Hal is a lonely (and broke) orphan who makes her living by reading tarot cards. She is being harassed by a loan shark who she borrowed $500 from that has magically turned into a $3000 debt. Then she receives a letter from a lawyer saying that sheā€™s entitled to a huge inheritance from a dead grandmother. She believes the letter is in error but, she really needs the money, so she heads to Penzance fully intending to fake it so she can get the money. I became so wrapped up in Hal and her ā€œfamilyā€™sā€ story that I couldnā€™t put this book down. I havenā€™t read a lot of Ruth Wareā€™s books so Iā€™m going to put all of them on my TBR. If any of them are as good as this one, I will be a happy camper.
