Courage Is Calling by Ryan Holiday

hopeful informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

3.0

This book has interesting things to say, sometimes packaged not very subtly. The third part of the book "Heroic" lost me quite a bit, as I got tired of the military references and all the 'be a hero' talk. My opinion echoes that of some other reviewers, in that to me we need courage to be good, not necessarily to be great. Or perhaps I'm more interested in the good part than the great. At the end of the day, there were some great examples and points made about what it means to embody courage, and although I felt like Holiday contradicts himself a little here and there, I did take away a good few insights that I needed to be reminded of. I think maybe next I will turn to the stoics he mentions rather than his books as I'm getting a little tired of the marketing gimmick of repackaging knowledge that came from others without adding much personal/additional value to it.
