Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen by Serena Valentino
5.0
4.5 *
Loved this so much. Loved that we got an insight of who the Evil Queen, or Wicked Queen, was before and how she came to be.
Okay, I've kinda given this more thought and my opinion ion it hasn't changed at all.
I like the idea that the Evil Queen didn't start as being a bad stepmother to Snow. How she actually considered Snow as her own child is really cool and even though she never had a child of her own with the King, she still didn't resent Snow. And Snow was simply very happy to have a new mommy.
She had a terrible past in the sense her father never loved her and he didn't miss a chance at all to let her know and poor Queen had no other ways to know her true beauty until the King crossed path with her and wanted to see her more and then they married.
I love how their loved blossomed and I was sad when the King left for war and eventually died and that was the descent of the Queen into a deep deep depression and then magic got in the mix and she became obsessed with the mirror. Her position in the hierarchy and her vanity allowed her a lot of things.
One thing I was getting tired of in this book is that she was never named. She was only the Queen. I mean, even the King didn't have a name but everyone else did basically except for the Queen. I would have liked to know her name. I don't know, it would have made her more... approachable? I don't know. Not that it would have made it easier to relate to her but maybe up 'til the King's death.
Anyway, I lobed this a lot and I can't wait to read the others in this series.
