The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger

Read it out of pure curiosity (I like to see what changes are made when books are adapted into movies).

Taking out the character of her father was a smart choice. His character was the weakest part - I don't think that their relationship would be able to come back from the book events.
Spoileri.e. him physically abusing her, and his issues with alcohol. I get that the author wanted things to get wrapped up at the end, but him saying "I'll get back on the wagon! Also sorry I hit you!" and going to AA meetings doesn't mean this is going to end up OK.
