The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

This was menacing. Creepy children, haunted grounds, an ominous smart house, and poisonous gardens - what more could you ask for?

The Turn of the Key is a modern thriller based on Henry James' classic The Turn of the Screw. When Rowan stumbles upon an ad for a live-in nannying position in the Scottish Highlands, it seems too good to be true. It's just the change she needs to get her out of her rut. She'll get to live at the beautiful estate, earn a generous salary, and the family looks picture-perfect. But there's something wrong with the house - and maybe the children too.

It was impossible to stop reading this book. This was my first Ruth Ware read, and I am impressed with how good she is at creating a chilling atmosphere, and the way she was able to build suspense.

I liked pretty much everything about this book. The only thing holding it back from a 5-star is the ending. I just didn't like it. But the other 90% of the book was a 5-star.
