The Van Alen Legacy by Melissa de la Cruz

4.0

So I think with this book, I'd give it a solid four stars.

It was an enjoyable read and in my opinion, the ending made the entire book, because I did have some trouble getting though this one. It seemed to drag on a bit in places and I found myself getting bored every now and then.

While I do realize that scenes had to be set and certain information given to the reader in order to set the stage for everything to come to a head, it seemed like that was the entire purpose of this novel, just to give background and small details to the reader.

As I said, the ending did make up for it, though I will be ridiculously upset if Kingsley doesn't somehow manage to poof back from "the dead". I'm happy to see Jack and Sky together at last, though who knows where that'll be going with Mimi on a somewhat vindictive warpath and Oliver doing who knows what (I don't think that story is over yet).

I'm curious to see how the next book turns out because I did think this was going to be the book where everything came to a head and was disappointed when that was not the case, so now I'm relegated to waiting impatiently for number five.

Rating: PG-13
Minimal language, some suggestiveness, violence, gore, some sexuality.
