Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart

4.0

Terrifically entertaining, and a surprising amount of the material included is based in fact. I went into this book expecting a female-based western based solely on the cover and title, but ended up with an engaging work of historical fiction, which was a very satisfying trade-off. Considering its subject matter, the tone sometimes feels a little too light and breezy, and I never felt much danger or urgency regarding either the Kopp sisters' safety or their dealings with Kaufman. Perhaps this is a testament to Stewart's strong writing of the three sisters, each well-rounded with a distinct personality, and how I felt like they could easily tackle any problem thrown their way with no foe too formidable. I liked how wonderfully everything is set up for future installments at the end and look forward to reading more in this series.
